Large print titles are available from all Hillsborough County public libraries.

Described Video

Videos with added audio tracks describing on-screen action are available for the blind and visually impaired.

Video Recordings for the Hearing Impaired

Videos available with subtitles that can be seen with a closed-captioned decoder or with a built-in decoder.

Homebound Books

Book selection and home delivery are available.

Library2Go

Library2Go provides library services to residents who may not be able to visit a library branch. Customers may place holds, check out and return items, and more.

Braille and Talking Book Library

The Florida Bureau of Braille and Talking Books Library in Daytona Beach provides information and reading materials in Braille and recorded audio format to Florida residents who are unable to use standard print as the result of visual, physical, or reading disabilities.

Sensory-friendly toolkits and informational resources are available at all Hillsborough County Public Libraries.

  • Dragon is speech recognition software.
  • Open Book scans, enlarges, and converts text to speech.
  • ZoomText enlarges print on the computer screen.
  • Keys-U-See keyboards have large print for the visually impaired.
  • TOPAZ is a desktop magnifier for printed materials.
  • VideoEye is used to enlarge printed text to make reading easier.
  • FSReader 3.0 is an extension of JAWS used to enhance the reading experience for the visually impaired.
  • T-Loop is a hearing loop connected to a sound system to transmit sound to telecoil-equipped hearing aids.
  • LR 5X00 Receivers offers assistive listening users an option for high-performance audio. The integrated neck loop/lanyard improves the listening experience for T-coil users.

Other Assistive Equipment at the SouthShore Regional Library

  • DaVinci Pro is a desktop magnifier and reader for printed material.
  • Fresnel Lenses magnify printed text or objects and are larger than regular magnifying glasses.
  • For non-ambulatory customers, an Amigo Motorized Cart provides access to the Library's collection.
